Cárdenas (La Rioja) 1976. Agricultural Engineer. A degree
in Enology and a diploma in Advanced Enology Studies. One of the
new, young winemaking talents in La Rioja. Ever since his childhood
he has lived very close to the vine, in his native village. Later
he combined his academic study with professional experience in growing
and winemaking. Like his Viticulture teacher at the University of
La Rioja, Fernando Martínez de Toda, he defends viticulture
as the key to producing a great wine. Deeply involved in innovative
winemaking initiatives in various DOs, he is proving capable of reflecting
all his potential in original, top quality projects, such as the
Maetierra Dominum.

Madrid, 1962. Graduate in Viticulture and Enology. One of the most
renowned Spanish "flying winemakers". During his studies
he went to St.Emilion-Bordeaux, where he had his first hands on experience
of winemaking while working at Château Pavie. He honed his
winemaking skills in the Bodega Marqués de Griñón,
where he saw the chance to work with Professor Peynaud of the University
of Bordeaux; later he worked with Michel Rolland, the most universal
winemaker of our times, as well as the vineyard specialist from Australia,
Professor Richard Smart. He made regular trips to Bordeaux to work
in Michel Rolland’s laboratory, thus getting to know some of
the most important wineries in the world.
